August 12th, 2004

While in Courmayeur on August 11th, I got an sms from Barbara asking if we could make it to be in Piazzatorre the next day by 10am.. why??? I immediately called her back, and discovered that our plans for the next day now included babysitting lovely little Giorgia while Diego had to run some errands, and Babi was on the ice coaching... no problem! The baby would be all covered and resting in her pram rinkside, so it just only meant to check on her standing nearby, but we would still be able to see the practices. I know we are mad... Sissi and I (as she stayed in my guest room for the night, to save time), we arrived home from Courmayeur around 4 am, and at 8 we were already at the metro station in Sesto San Giovanni to pick up Marianna and to go to Piazzatorre.
Having slept around 3 hours, we felt particularly silly, and spent our time singing cartoon songs and finding extremely hilarious all the signs all over the motorway, advising drivers not to drive when tired, not to forget the seatbels, and telling how many deaths are caused by tired drivers, etc.. Actually Marianna had not been in Courma the night before and well rested... and didn't share our loss-of-slee-induced good humour, and didn't understand us too much.
Anyway, we managed to be in Piazzatorre well before Diego had to leave, so we said hello, discussed photo cameras (Babi ha told me on the phone the night before that he had gone and bought the same one I had gotten, he had been very interested in it the week before on our previous visit to the rink), and then brought a well covered and sleeping Giorgia rinkside, for the beginning of practices.

I saved very little photos from the morning, because the weather kept changing from bad to good, and at some point a very bad fog had formed on the ice...
Mauri was there in those days too, giving advices from the point of view of a techincal specialist
we had a lovely lunch with Barbara, and kept chatting with her in her room, showing her pics from the show we had attended the night before while she was feeding Giorgia

after a nap, we were back (with Giorgia) to the rink for more practices

We were soon heading back home, in time for Mary to catch a train... of course, the next morning I was punctually at work in the office (thankfully there was little to do in those days, and there were just three of us in the office.. no bosses around...), and on the weekend I just had the time to rest a little an organize the next trip... to Pinzolo for another stop of the show and some practices...
