Pinzolo, Aug. 17th, 2003 This year I had also planned a second visit to
the summer tour... just a few days later I was heading all by myself
to Pinzolo! It felt stange to be leaving for the mountains all by myself,
without my group of friends.. but I had arranged to meet an high school
classmate who had a mountain home there, so I was not 100% alone! She
had also booked me a room at a hotel, and I spent quite a bit of time
with her chatting in the morning, and at lunch with her family. In the
afternoon I preferred at some point to head for the rink to wait for
the arrival of the skaters (I was in phone contact with Mauri), to see
the practices, etc. I actually had asked my friend to stay with me (it
would be something new for her to see some good skating!) but she had
a walk planned with her family, so I basically found myself all alone
for some hours, waiting outside the rink. At some point I was staring
to feel quite embarassed, with the rink's staff looking at me suspiciously...
Fortunately the whole cast arrived soon, with Babi welcoming warmly
and taking me into the rink with her... the staff had nothing to say
at this point! Bonus point for this show: gorgeous John Zimmerman had
arrived today to spend a week on tour with Silvia Fontana, before heading
to Rome for their upcoming wedding. My eyes were happy!! I also enjoyed
seeing the practices, and chatted backstage with Babi and Sissi (I had
also brough a big box of fresh figues I had taken from my tree that
very same morning, and she loves those!!)... I realized I must have
been mistaken as someone from the tour staff by the rink people (probably
because I was wearing the same kind of black puffy vest they had on
- but that was a total coincidence!), especially when some guy asked
me to bring some water into the ladies' dressing room, because he was
afraid of them being half naked! In the end, I found myself staying
on the hockey benches to see the show as well (though my friend had
bought me a ticket for the tribunes), which was very good fun.. I enjoyed
being in the center of the action, it felt a bit like when my theater's
group is performing... |

| At the end of the show I met my friend Francesca, and took a couple of pictures of her posing with Barbara and Maurizio. We chatted a bit about the show, said hello to the skaters I know, and said goodbye as I was going to leave the next morning very early, without meeting her again. Had a laugh when Babi said bye bye in her own way from her car, beeping noisily on the clacson (soon imitated by the buses of the skaters.. LOL)... everyone turned around to see what was happening! | |
